· Fresh challenges as new cars and trucks debut
· First chance for northern racers to score points

New cars and trucks are adding fresh heat to the New Zealand Offroad Racing Championship as teams prepare for the first northern round at Meremere on April 28.
Already, more than 20 entries have been received by the organisers, with as many again expected to flood in over the coming fortnight.
Leading entries include the crowd-pleasing Maurice Bain, making a welcome return to the championship driving the ex-Roly Dixon VW Beetle; hard charger Steven Stokes of Whangarei in class three and the first Kiwitruck (youth class) entry, Marcus Runciman of Manurewa. Anthony Hewitt is bringing the big Dodge out for a run in class two; class 1 champion Mal Langley is preparing to defend his 2012 title from at least three other unlimited-class cars; Dyson Delahunty moves up out of Kiwitrucks into a very nicely prepared class 7.
Still to enter, but waiting in the wings: Nick Hall, in the Elf Pro Lite; Mike Cox in his US-built Pro Lite; and Justin Leonard – provided the Wellingtonian can get his engine swap finished in time.
The event will be run under ORANZ rules to the short course format on All Terrain Racing’s home track at Meremere. Entry forms are online (see our Entry Forms Page on this site) and available by email: veritas.nz@xtra.co.nz
