  • Full-course visibility for spectators on Saturday
  • Strong grids for unlimited classes
  • UTVs go head to head with the big bangers

The spectacular sport of offroad racing thunders into the Waitaki Valley this weekend as Kurow hosts the third southern round of the 2019 national championship.

The racing will pit agile, fast UTVs against the big banger cars and trucks of the unlimited classes.

Organisers are expecting up to ten class one cars, most of them V8 powered. At least two are from the North Island – Mike Fraser and John Morgan. The latter won the enduro here last year.

The unlimited 4WD Bits unlimited truck class has already attracted three entries including the Giti Tyres Chev of Bryan Chang; the supercharged V8 Hilux of Paul Preston and the fast Ford Ranger V8 of Cam Stratford.

The smallest cars in the event are four in the Kiwitruck youth categories for Arron Crabb, Asher Morgan, Harry Hodgson and Jack Brownlees.

The two-day event on Slim Slee’s farm consists of a full day of short course heats on Saturday 7 September and a 250 km endurance race the following day. The Slee property is five kilometres east of Kurow at 101 Springhills Road and is signposted at the corner of Otiake Road & State Highway 83.
