Last weekend WORC ran their first event at their new track at “Tect Park”. Tect park is located roughly half way between Tauranga and Rotorua and a dedicated facility for the use of motorsport. A massive effort from the Waikato club and special mention to Collin Meridith for the creation of this new track. Most driver having a good run to test the track and with some very positive feedback. Waikato club acknowledges that there is still more work to be done but a very good start for what promises to be a great racing venue.

One of the things that is going to make this track so unique is that being located at Tect park, the option is available to not only run short course events – but also enduro events utilising many of the Tect park roads that are often used by the local car clubs to run rallies.

In relation to the club short course track, from a spectator point of view, the raised viewing platform gives excellent view of 90% of the track. The track itself is wide and has many dips and hollows providing a number of natural “jumps” enabling airborne action.

All in all a good start and a fantastic day.
